Description
Giclée reproduction of “Emerald Cove” from the original oil on canvas painting by artist Scott Kennedy in 2002.
About this painting
In 2002, the Corsair Yacht Club of Catalina asked me to make a painting of the cove for their Annual Gala and fundraising event. This commissioned oil painting – along with a series of reproductions – benefited the Catalina Island Conservancy.
I have known about the cove since boyhood, both as a teenager sailing from the mainland and as a Sea Explorer participating in the Boy Scouts summer camp program.
Located on the leeward and remote west end of the island, Emerald Cove provides ideal anchorages and a mooring field with 100 buoys. Indian Rock, a popular dive spot, contrasts the vibrant emerald green water that gave this cove its name.
I ferried out to Emerald Cove daily – along with my work-in-progress – taking the Catalina Passenger Service from Long Beach harbor to the isthmus on the west end of the island. From the isthmus, I was taken out to the hillside west of the camp for daily sittings. This daily “back and forth” continued until the painting was finished.

Certificate of Authenticity
To protect your investment, a Certificate of Authenticity is issued for, and included with, each giclée reproduction. This Certificate guarantees that the specified artwork is one of a numbered edition of fine art giclées that has been reproduced directly from the original work of the artist.
The Certificate bears the artist’s seal and his personal signature, along with the edition number, printing method, materials used to create the reproduction, and information about the original artwork from which the reproduction was made.
In addition, the Certificate verifies that the artwork has been reproduced using only the highest quality archival-certified materials designed to preserve its integrity and longevity. Art by Scott Kennedy recommends that the Certificate be stored safely and securely.
About Giclée
A Giclée is regarded as a museum-quality reproduction with its exceptional detail and color fidelity. Only name-brand, fade-resistant, archival-certified inks are applied to acid-free, archival quality substrates in order to produce the sharpest images possible.
Care for your Giclée print
On each Giclée print, we apply an archival coating designed to protect against UV light, scuffing, fingerprints and moisture. To ensure your fine art reproduction lasts a lifetime, avoid direct contact with the ink surface and do not position your print near direct sunlight or direct heating.
