Description

Giclée reproduction of “Anatomy of Twin Brigantines” from the original India ink drawing by artist Scott Kennedy in 2002.

About this drawing of the twin brigantines

In 2002, I was commissioned to chronicle the building of twin brigantines – Irving Johnson and Exy Johnson.

My pen drawings took the two craft from planning and layout through the construction of the fully-rigged sailing ships. I competed approximately 36 pieces over the course of this project, including this “Anatomy” piece.

Named for sail training pioneers, the brigantines Irving Johnson and Exy Johnson are flagships of the TopSail Youth Program based out of the Los Angeles Maritime Institute (LAMI) in San Pedro. The program, founded by Jim Gladson, helps at-risk youth learn discipline and teamwork through real-life challenges at sea.

The twin 113 foot-long brigantines, built to the finest specifications and with the highest grade materials available, are designed to last 100 years.

In addition, the Certificate verifies that the artwork has been reproduced using only the highest quality archival-certified materials designed to preserve its integrity and longevity.  Art by Scott Kennedy recommends that the Certificate be stored safely and securely.

About Giclée

A Giclée is regarded as a museum-quality reproduction with its exceptional detail and color fidelity. Only name-brand, fade-resistant, archival-certified inks are applied to acid-free, archival quality substrates in order to produce the sharpest images possible.

Care for your Giclée print

On each Giclée print, we apply an archival coating designed to protect against UV light, scuffing, fingerprints and moisture. To ensure your fine art reproduction lasts a lifetime, avoid direct contact with the ink surface and do not position your print near direct sunlight or direct heating.
