Description

Giclée reproduction of “King’s Landing” from the original watercolor painting by artist Scott Kennedy in 1997.

This piece was painted on location in Newport Beach, California.

King’s Landing according to Scott Kennedy

Directly across the narrow Rhine Channel from the old Western Canners Company sat one of the most picturesque spots in Newport Beach. It was called King’s Landing.

The waterfront was always full of charter fishing boats. The boats prepared for their daily ocean quests before dawn and, after loading their patrons, headed to open sea.  Story continues below…

As a boy, I had my small sailboat moored nearby. The area around the docks, bustling with activity from the commercial fleets at King’s Landing, became my second home.

Many of the crew would eat at a place on the wharf side, which was at that time a small café called Charlie’s Chili.

Frequently you would see groups of student artists on and near the wharves, drawing and painting. I, too, enjoyed rendering this spot, as well as visiting and associating with other artists and watermen.

The owner of the Landing, Jerry D. King, and I became good friends. In 1983, Jerry offered to host my first waterfront art gallery, the Scott Kennedy Maritime Gallery. The famous Delaney’s Sea Shanty Restaurant was right next door!

About Giclée

A Giclée is regarded as a museum-quality reproduction with its exceptional detail and color fidelity. Only name-brand, fade-resistant, archival-certified inks are applied to acid-free, archival quality substrates in order to produce the sharpest images possible.

Care for your Giclée print

On each Giclée print, we apply an archival coating designed to protect against UV light, scuffing, fingerprints and moisture. To ensure your fine art reproduction lasts a lifetime, avoid direct contact with the ink surface and do not position your print near direct sunlight or direct heating.
